MONTREAL — /CNW Telbec/ – Air Canada has been named the 2018 Eco-Airline of the Year by the respected airline industry publication Air Transport World in its 44th Annual Airline Industry Achievement Awards.

In recognizing Air Canada’s environmental accomplishments, ATW cited the carrier’s commitment to emissions reductions through supporting the development of alternative fuels and its numerous green programs and partnerships, including being the first airline in the world to voluntarily join the World Bank’s IMF Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition.

“Air Canada has made sustainability central to its decision-making and business processes, and this includes acting responsibly with respect to the environment. Air Canada, Sky Reg’l Airlines end purchase agreement’s 10-year extension

MONTREAL — Air Canada and Sky Regional Airlines said they have concluded a 10-year extension to their existing capacity purchase agreement (CPA), effective April 1, 2017.

“This 10-year extension to the existing capacity purchase agreement with Sky Regional Airlines underscores our confidence in our Air Canada Express partner to provide a seamless operation and customer experience on behalf of Air Canada in a number of our key domestic and transborder regional markets on a cost competitive basis,” said Kevin Howlett, Senior Vice President, Regional Markets and Government Relations at Air Canada.

“With its fleet comprised exclusively of Embraer 175 jet aircraft that has grown to 25 in recent years, Sky Regional strengthens Air Canada’s competitive position in the rapidly evolving North American regional markets as low cost operators continue to grow, both in Canada and the United States,” Howlett added.

Air Canada is Americas’ Best Long Haul Airline

AirlineRatings.com gives Air Canada its top seven-star rating for both safety and product.
